Well, I feel bleak thinking about the future, and I’ve been spending evenings disassociating while watching The Mentalist. I’m on season 5, and each season has 22 episodes and each episode is 45 minutes long, so that’s what? 10,000 hours of Mentalist? If I’m going with Malcolm Gladwell rules, I’m basically The Beatles of The Mentalist.
While I’m not exactly feeling passionate, here are some other good things: peanut butter M&Ms, new Matlock, and Thermadors.
Peanut butter M&Ms are peanut M&Ms with the work cut out. Softest M&Ms in the game. If and when my teeth fall out, I’ll still probably be able to gnash on these things and have a good time.
A new Matlock comes out every Thursday, and that’s something I look forward to. Kathy Bates is so good, and sometimes actors who are in Matlock were also in the Mentalist and I have no one to tell this to.
They have these heaters in old California bathrooms called Thermadors. You turn on a switch and the coils turn red hot like a toaster oven. You stand in front of it and treat your cold legs like Eggo Waffles.
And now some from the readers…
Helaine: “I love driving outside a big city to a small town and reading about the town in Wikipedia”
SJ: “My passion is being in clubs for adults. I'm in a club for filmmaking and just joined the steering committee. There are no stakes and no one is asking you to be there, or to even try. So I send fun emails with jokes in it and colorful fonts, out of my own volition! There's no teacher supervising. Can you tell I hate authority? It's democracy at its finest!”
Myq: “have a new passion to share: a friend recently recommended two books to me (one at a time, and i loved the first recommendation, so i was happy to accept the second one) and i have been passionate about texting that friend either screen shots or quotes from the parts of the books that have leapt out to me as particularly meaningful, funny, resonant, or interesting in some way! it's really fun to do, and it combines two passions i already knew about: reading good books and FRIENDSHIP!”
If you have passions, you can always reply to this email with 1-2 sentences about it.
