Such a scary week. But I’m coming out of it grateful and inspired by all the organizations that have popped up to help. There are people out here who are so organized and helpful in times of crisis, it’s easy to forget they’re in the same crisis. I really admire these folks. Yesterday I bought 120 maxi pads so I could drop them off later for a donation. The CVS cashier might’ve thought I had the heaviest flow of all time. Period like a fountain.
Passions this week include: making soup in a fleece, driving on the freeway, and Cherry Coke Zero.
Last night I made soup in a performance fleece. I slurped it up while watching one of the most confusing movies I’ve ever seen and I spilled soup all over the fleece. The problem was, I kept forgetting I did that, so every fifteen minutes I was like, damn what smells like soup around here? It’s me. I’m the soup.
I’ve avoided driving on the freeway the whole time I’ve lived in LA, mostly because of that one scene in Clueless. But the Sunset fires were a little too close, so I got in the car with my dog, got on the freeway and drove to San Diego. All my love to Prozac and my car that now kinda permanently smells like fear.
Cherry Coke Zero tastes like medicine with bubbles, but when you put that medicine in the fridge, it gets a little something special. This drink’s got a zing, and when combined with dusty store bought chocolate chip cookies, mmmm that’s a kitchen power couple.
If you have passions, send em on over.
Stay safe out there,
Jo
